Climate

Monte
León can be visited November thru April. Patagonian´s
harsh winter begins May. Even in exceptionally snowy winters,
the coast is kept at a slightly higher temperature than the
steppe due to the sea´s warming influence, and wildlife
tend to concentrate there in order to survive.
Monte
León's bioclimate is defined as semiarid south Patagonian
steppe, with prevailing conditions of aridity and an anual rainfall
of about 10 inches concentrating in the autumn. Spring and summertime
are the dry season. The mean average yearly temperature is 42´F. (6.8´C), with June and July the coldest months. April average
is 54´F. (12´C>) and October averages 36´F. (4´C.).
Another
noteworthy feature are the strong prevailing West-Southwest
winds
which partly limit the ocean's warming influence. Even thus,
the ocean's
presence limits the cold (at the beach, temperatures seldom
fall below 30´F
(0.5´C.) and the total degree of aridity.
